2016 Season

2016 is going to be a bumper season for CX with races practically every weekend for 3 months!!!!! Who would have thought this would escalate so quickly. It is very exciting.

For the Fixx CX team we have ate pizza and drank beer and discussed where we go from here. And in the by the end of this month all the details will be released. Rathfarnham CX will go ahead again as a stand alone season opener. The Fixx series will have 4 rounds with more barriers, more signage but we may leave the bridges out!

Exciting changes will include registration and series numbering updates to make it easier for competitors and organisers alike. We are really working on providing faster results, within 10 mins of race end, also looking at some Strava integration so any STRAVA experts out there let us know!

Soooooooooooooo EXCITED……..Spiral_CX

Who done it??

I am sure many of you raced Round 3 of the Fixx Coffeehouse series and as you rode around were wondering who did that! Well let me take you around the course so you can be enlightened!

Kids Race – Gareth Gibbons and Rob Tobin(Chief make the kids exhausted officers)

Start Area banners – Scott Wallace, full time banners and flags

Barriers all over the place – Michael Grimes, James Patrick Lattimore

Fixing the Spiral of Confusion ever time someone broke the tape – David Lawless

Strimming and course set up – Ger Byrne

Timing and sign on – Alex, Colm Mullen and Dee Brickenden(proud Mother of the Mud Man)

PA System – Redmond O’ Toole

Course design – Robin Seymour

Taping EVERYTHING – James Patrick Lattimore, Daniel (Mud Man) Brickenden, Gavin O’ Connell, Ger Byrne, Asa Redmond

Puddle of DOOM – probably 200 odd riders

Sponsors – Fixx Coffeehouse and Verge sport represented by Robert Keogh and John Dempsey. And Expert Cycles with Alfie on site bright and early.

It is not a big list of people and there are plenty who lend a hand, as their time permits, but at it’s core the series is run by a small group who are at the course ever race by 8:30 and finish about 7 hours later. Some of us race and some of us keep the show going.

One race left in the series and then the planning for bigger and better will begin again.

**I am sure I have forgotten someone and just like the results amendments will occur

Round 3 – Tymon

Round 3 is on Nov 15th and will be held in Tymon park beside the National Basketball arena. Tymon is a modern classic for Dublin CX and has had some great head to heads over the years. Incredibly tough if it’s muddy and frighteningly fast if it’s dry.

Parking is limited in Tymon so car pooling or commuting to the event are greatly appreciated.

More details over the next few days.

Holy Jebus

Round 1…..what can I say….Over 200 riders registered, 10% of the entry was female, a sunny day, a new Fixx Coffee House Truck, lots of kids, brilliant racing, dry ground……….PHEW….

Results are now up on the Results page. I hope everyone had an amazing day. As organisers with a small team it is VERY HARD to get it 100% right and we definitely have room for improvement. But we take on board the feedback and turn it into better racing for EVERYONE!!

Need to regroup now and get promoting Round 2. Hope to see another giant entry and more amazing racing.

The Fixx Supercross Team

Entries Closed

The entry for the season opener in Rathfarnham village is now closed with 150 racers registered in the senior races.

The B race will kick off at 19:15 with 90 competitors testing their legs and lungs on the closed loop. The Race will have a very strong womens field with 15 riders including Beth McCluskey and Mel Spath(Sherlock), so there should be some great battles to watch.

The A race will start at 20:15 and also features an incredible field of riders, Glenn Kinning, Zippy Doyle, Robin Seymour and Seán Ó Tuathail as well as Uber strong Vet Peter McConville, who will all rally around the short circuit at break neck speeds.

Hope to see all cycling fans on the Hill on Thursday.
